About Us

The Denver Independent Choreographers' Project (DICP) assists independent dance choreographers to create and show their original works to the general public in a professional setting, using professional-caliber dancers. New choreographers, choreographers working outside of an established dance company, and newcomers to the area particularly enjoy the DICP’s choreography showcase structure. Now in its third season, DICP concerts offer the unexpected, the fresh and experimental, and the always varied perspectives of a constantly changing roster of dance artists.

This 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides an outlet for both dancers and choreographers by providing performance opportunities; expert feedback and critique to choreographers; teaching opportunities; and a professional DVD of each work of choreography.

The DICP benefits the professional or post-professional dancer by offering a creative and professional outlet for maintaining or rebuilding performance stature. In addition, the DICP provides advanced to professional level dancers in the Denver area the opportunity to work with up-and-coming choreographers in professional dance performances, providing rehearsal and performing experience, as well as a final documentation of their performances, which can be used for future employment. As well, The DICP offers master classes throughout the year, with innovative teachers, in multiple disciplines.

The DICP provides choreographers a free-form outlet for their original works, capable dancers on which to set their pieces, and necessary exposure to the dance community through publicity, professional critiques, performance opportunities, and video recordings of their finished products. As a result, the DICP supports dancers who hope to transition into choreography, independent choreographers seeking resources for their talents, and under-utilized dancers in the Denver area who are seeking performance opportunities.
